The Children Resource Centre (CRC), which started in 2007 with a range of open activities and events including Freedom Week and 150 years of 1857, has evolved as a vibrant and lively unit of NMML. Its activities are aimed at keeping alive the legacy of Pandit Nehru, who loved children, and of the national freedom struggle and their values of democracy, secularism and peace.
Guided by the mandate and objectives of the NMML, CRC, in association with organizations and resource persons who work for and with children, has developed a variety of programmes with the Museum and Library as the pivotal points. The regular activities are Museum Tours, Nature and Heritage Walks and Children's Library events; Camps for National Integration and Diversity, such as "Dosti - Building the Nation Camps" and "Yuva Yatra - Discovery of India Camps"; Rang Tarang - Nehru Summer School; Dhanak Din - Nehru Bal Mela; Outreach Programmes and special workshops.
Children and young people from all backgrounds, schools and institutions participate in them. The programmes are generally designed keeping in mind the academic content - history and science being the central thematic threads - quality, scope for creativity and expression and sometimes, the special needs of participants.
NMML has now become a popular attraction that children and young people alike relate to and desire to visit again and again.
